Donna May Litt

I write stories to help readers explore life in playful and surprising ways.

I take story ideas and geek out on implementing them. I'm a writer, so that's what I do. But what I do is not the same as what I'm trying to accomplish. The way I see it, my job as a fiction writer is to beg for your attention.

" You must be looking for the kitten."

"You must be looking for the kitten."

" Umm.   Not that kitten ."

"Umm. Not that kitten."

"That kitten . " (Moments before she sheathes her claws inside your finger.) " E njoy those cuddles..."

"That kitten." (Moments before she sheathes her claws inside your finger.) "Enjoy those cuddles..."

The same way a sculptor plays make believe with clay to invent a new shape, I play make believe with words to invent new worlds. My goal with each story is to invent a new world that captures your attention and feeds your imagination, almost in spite of itself.

But in the end if I've kept your attention long enough to get to the end, then I've accomplished something worth celebrating. Because if your attention span is anything like mine... Well, let's just say I grew up on a steady diet of chat roulette and iPhone upgrades.

Thank you for reading.

What if I can’t choose the good words? What if I never figure out how to?! What if I never even TRY?!

Oh crap.
